Grace + Elhanan Proposal | Queenstown, NZ Wedding Photographer

grace and elhanan’s proposal story is freakin amazing and it all happened within a WEEK. I was sitting with some friends in an indoor market in christchurch and chatting with them about how I wanted to take pictures of them down in queenstown but they told me that they weren’t going to be joining the group of us who were going down in two weeks time. but they said that they had some friends in queenstown and they would probably love to have a couples session done! so we got to chatting about the couple and they mentioned how they weren’t engaged but that elhanan had kinda been thinking about asking. one of my other friends piped up and said, “wouldn’t it be so cool if he proposed during the session?!” and they replied with a, “well, we’ll mention it to him and see what he thinks!”. for the first week, the possibility of it being a proposal was very much up in the air, so I just thought that it would be a regular ole couples session (which I was still super excited about!). the week before I was gonna head down to queenstown, I messaged elhanan and said, “yo, heard about the possibility of a proposal - whaz the plan?” (probably said it a bit less casually than that but hey) and he got back to me with the deets. fast forward to the day before I drove to queenstown - elhanan gave me proposal plan and we lined all the things up (code words and all). he told me that he’d driven down to dunedin to ask for grace’s parents’ blessing and back all in one day, which is a 8hr round trip. and then he’d also found a ring within a day or two all the while totally keeping grace from getting too suspicious. once we’d started the photoshoot, all that was left was for me to drop the code word, get them into a sneaky “pose”, and give elhanan the ring box. long story short: she said YES. grace and el, you two are the best and I love your love story and I cannot wait for your wedding day in december!
